A technical climbing expedition to one of Garhwal's most challenging peaks
Black Peak (Kalanag) is one of the most challenging and rewarding climbing expeditions in the Garhwal Himalayas. Standing tall at 20,180 feet (6,150 meters), this technical climb requires mountaineering skills, physical endurance, and mental determination.
The expedition takes you through pristine alpine meadows, glacial valleys, and steep snow slopes. The summit day demands technical climbing skills including rope work, ice axe techniques, and crampon usage. The view from the summit is absolutely spectacular, offering panoramic vistas of major Himalayan peaks.

May-June & September-October
Drive: 200 km, 8-9 hours | Altitude: 6,400 ft
Scenic drive through Mussoorie and along the Tons River to Sankri village. Overnight stay in guesthouse.
Trek: 12 km, 6-7 hours | Altitude: 10,800 ft
Trek through dense forests and meadows to reach Seema campsite. First night in tents.
Trek: 10 km, 5-6 hours | Altitude: 12,500 ft
Continue through alpine terrain to the base camp. Set up expedition base.
Camp 1: 14,800 ft | Rest day at Base Camp
Establish Camp 1, acclimatization walk, and basic mountaineering training.
Trek to Camp 1: 14,800 ft | 5-6 hours
Move to Camp 1, practice rope techniques and ice axe usage.
Camp 2: 17,000 ft | Summit: 20,180 ft
Establish Camp 2, final summit push (usually Day 8), and descent back to Base Camp. Reserved days for weather conditions.
Trek: 8-9 hours descent
Pack up base camp and descend to Seema. Celebration dinner.
Trek: 6-7 hours
Final descent to Sankri village. Hot shower and comfortable beds.
Drive: 8-9 hours
Drive back to Dehradun. Trek ends.
